Plants and Seeds
Plants grow from seeds, which contain the genetic blueprint for a new organism. Seeds require the right conditions—water, soil, and sunlight—to germinate. As they develop, plants produce oxygen, food, and habitats, sustaining life on Earth.

Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) is the aromatic flower bud of a tropical evergreen tree, widely used as a spice, flavoring, and natural remedy. Native to Indonesia, cloves were introduced to Sri Lanka through trade and are now grown mainly in Matale, Kegalle, and Kandy. Sri Lanka is a leading exporter, supplying about 8.5% of global demand. Clove buds contain eugenol, a powerful compound used in medicine, dentistry, aromatherapy, and the food and perfume industries. Clove is used in both sweet and savory dishes, while clove oil is known for its antibacterial, antiseptic, and analgesic properties.
